“As we go on.. We remeber… All the times, we had together… As our lives change…come whatever We will still be friends 4-Ever “

-Vitamin C~Graduation Day Song

Friends are hard to find and harder to keep. The OH & I have been very lucky and blessed when it comes to making friends. We have always had amazing friends who have stood by us in our joys and sorrows. When the OH, Meg & a very pregnant me landed into a new city all of 20 days before Raul was due, we didn’t know a soul. Grandma who came visiting and to help with the baby had more contacts than we did. Thanks to R aunty, we met a precious group of friends. The things we have done together are etched in our memories forever. We now have three generations of friendship that has formed in the 8 yrs we’ve spent together. We run through our work weeks and cart our kids to their various classes fueled by thoughts of chilling down at the end of the week with a glass of wine and these same friends to chat with. Many a plans for the weekend are made in the few moments we find to chat to each other during the crazy week.

This past weekend was a farewell dinner to V & S at A’s place. V & S are moving to Utah shortly followed by Singapore (they hope) a year later. It was the same R aunty who introduced V & S to us when they moved to our neighborhood a few years after us. V’s son S is the same age as Raul & his buddy Adi. It didn’t take us long to get to know V & S over the years that we’ve been together. V, with her eternal passion to cook, feed & party. All it took to get a good meal from her is a promise to a night of chatting. With an amazing sense of humor and the uncanny ability to constantly shove her foot into her mouth, there is never a dull moment with V around. We’d pick on her relentlessly and she would take it all in her stride with the best attitude.

S, V’s other half is as different from V as most spouses are. S was the quiet one but could come up with the best things to say once he’s warmed up to the crowd around him. A reliable source to go to for any information be it engineering, movies or the best places to eat in the city, S was the authority we hardly argued with. He is of course one of the few friends I can share my memories of school, Tamil movies and Chennai.

V & S, we will miss your company. Hanging out late night will never be the same since we will lose our bait to tease and harass :) V, we promise to call you every weekend when we are together. We know we’ll see you during Diwali and again for New Years just ‘coz you’ll miss us that much more.

edited to add: Dancing to Beedi Jalaile & Ek Aankh Maroon will never be the same again ;)
