Kids at home on their own with no grandparents/parents to watch & care for them
– Offer to pack their food was politely declined. The girl offered to make quesadillas for the two of them. She called me to comfort me that she had indeed turned the power of on the quesadilla maker!
– They emptied the dishwasher and soaked the dal midday for amma to come home and cook dinner
– The girl did her own laundry
– They both did their homework and read books (so I think!)
– Television was permitted only in the basement (so I hope!)
– Regular phone calls were made to keep amma posted
– They passed with flying colors. They are all grown up now
– On the bright side, given a choice, they still prefer having us around
At the end of the day, the kids got a day off from school, the dog got her day off from having to sit in her kennel and the parents spent the day stressing over the fact that the kids were alone at home!

Meg is such a responsible darling, don’t have to worry. Can’t believe she is all grown up though, to be on her own and make lunch for her brother too
! More time for the two of you….;)!

Wow! Super impressed. Dish-washing, laundry and quesadilla! You can retire (I mean from house-keeping).

@ sole: she is pretty responsible. I have been pleasantly surprised. Now if could only get her to keep a clean room…

@ AJ: She can surprise occasionally. Yesterday her brother said the quesadilla she made was splendid. I told him that was awesome and she could take over the chore of making their lunch in the morning. She was quick to tell me that mine were absolutely awesome and she would much rather have mine. All she could give me was a sheepish grin when I told her she was saying it just to wiggle out of the chore
@ Poppy: 12 and 9.

Meg has her Appa’s genes and mine.. thats why she is so awesome!! You cant deny the pavam baby that she is and the smart ass she can be if needed. hai ki nahi?
You can have Raul to yourself (I know I’ll have to eat my words when he comes the big shot lawyer with BLING).
Sands: Go right ahead and credit all of her lovely personality to yourself and her appa while I find my way out of the drudges
And yes I will have Raul all to myself till he gets to be the smart and dashing dude who is still lazy but can get everything done with his wit and charm

Megs lovely personality is her thanks only to her Appa, re. Her more interesting one when the lil horns on her head peak is me (and you have to agree you love that as much as I do).
Yes on definition of Raul= Wit, charm, laziness, that smile all rolled into one.. o and when he says “dude” at the beginning of every sentence!! cracks me up everytime.
Sands: Yes I love all of that but am also recently seeing a few that are distinctly mine
As for Raul, what can I say, am one who is a sucker for his charm

Way to go Meg.
p.s: I’ve never made quesadillas myself *sheepish*
Sands: It the easiest thing TPL once you get yourself those $20 quesadilla makers
