  1. Look at the food and that rangoli!!! :) You did all that on ur own???

Sands: Shruti, I will take credit for the food but the beautiful rangoli is thanks to the priest :)

  2. Delurking….you made all the food yourself?!!!!!!!W.O.W! :)

Sands: Yes, I did! it’s not as difficult as it looks once you have it all planned, beleive me! Thanks for delurking :)

  3. Hi Sand
Glad to see the Navratri pics. Looks like all of you had a nice time.

    Warm wishes

    Anu

Sands: Yes we did Anu. Thank you!

  4. Nice !!! Happy Navratri !

Sands: Thanks CA! A very happy navarathri to you as well!

  5. Huh? Where are your feet?!

Sands: chox, why feet and all? All it takes is good planning ahead of time and adrenaline the day of :) That works because I enjoy doing this every year!

  6. You made that food? Can you invite me home please?

Sands: Consider this my invite Pepper. hop in your car, do the required x hours of drive (or fly) and I promise to serve you some yummy stuff :)

  7. Wow, lot of effort, I loved your kolam…

Sands: Thanks but I do have the priest to thank for the kolam :)

  8. Feel hungry

Sands: Come on over Ra and will be happy to feed you :)

  9. Ok…could I ask you some questions?

    1. How many people?
    2. How do you plan how much to make?
    3. How did you organize them?
    4. Did you have to hire some vessels (for cooking / for laying on table)?

Could you pls do a post on that. Even feeding 6-7 people is sometimes a nightmare for me. I’ll probably thank you for the rest of my life :)

Sands: Sowmya, I promise to post the answers and my experience/thoughts soon!

  10. oh yes, one more

    5. did you have any leftovers? If yes, which ones are usually more left out than the rest? What did you do with them?

Am sorry, I am asking too many questions.

  11. Wow! I salute your dedication to do this every year Sands! It is nice that you are able to have a bhagavati sevai in your neck of the woods. Here it is hardly heard of :( My brother in bangalore conducts this poojai at home every aadi month.

Food looks yum! What all did you make?

Oh the house looks awesome! Love the huge plate on the wall and the various nooks and the stuff..and okay okay..love everything :)

Sands: Thanks. I am indeed fortunate to have a priest who does a wonderful job with the puja. A friend of mine here tells me her parents do it in India regularly too in Mumbai. I personally had never heard of this puja till I started doing it :)

The menu is in this post http://sandsrandomramblings.wordpress.com/2011/09/29/it-is-now-a-custom/. Check it out ;)

The OH & I look each day for little things to add to the house that makes it more cozy and to our taste. Thanks for noticing & commenting on a few of those :)

  12. Very pretty! The rangoli is lovely…bright and cheerful colours…
NAvratri is one festival that I like too…there’s a lot more to it than just the pooja and the eating…

Sands: Thanks! The priest did the rangoli so all credit goes to him :) I totally agree with you on Nvarathri. It is a lovely festival indeed.

  13. Wow’ing at everything, Sands but you know what gives your hostess skills and expertise away the most — the chaffing dishes! ;-) … and wishing you a very Happy Deepavali.

Sands: AJ, true hostess skills and expetise would be having the real stainless steel chaffing dish no, instead of the disposable aluminum foils ones? :) Wishing you and your family a very happy diwali as well AJ!
